Oster Pewter now supplies lead-free pewter as mill sheet in widths up to 28″ and, depending on thickness, in lengths of 100″ or more, dimensions optimized for countertops. Panels can be joined by using lead-free solders, or welded, using thin strips of pewter as welding rod. Typically, the pewter sheet is fastened to a subsurface of cabinet grade plywood or similar material using contact cement.

Pewter’s versatility gives artisans several finish options for countertops: a smooth, polished finish, a matte or satin finish, or even a hand-hammered finish. Edge details can be created by rolling the top surface over a form (producing a seamless edge), attaching a decorative piece to the edge, or attaching a separately produced edge.
